Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. Joseph A. Crook practiced medicine and surgery in Jackson, Tennessee, with his son, Dr. Jere L. Crook, with whom he built and operated the Crook Sanitarium. Former president of the Tennessee State Medical Association, Crook was most successful in the treatment of typhoid fever. He often discussed it at medical association meetings and within medical journals.
