Historical or Biographical Note
Norman M. Cassell was born in 1923 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine with a M.D. degree in 1951 and completed both his internship and his residency there as well.
Cassell served in World War II as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy and conducted a private pediatric medical practice for 43 years. He also served as a clinical professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
