Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Belo Stone received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in 1923 and graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1927. He also received his residency training at Vanderbilt serving as an Assistant Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1928, and Resident in 1929. A native of Texas, Dr. Stone practiced medicine in Robstown for many years. The Sara Edmond Sawyer Stone, Belo Stone, M.D., AND Larry Stone, Jr. Scholarship was established at Vanderbilt 1979 by Dr. Lawrence A. Stone (B.A.1954) to honor his father, Belo Stone and mother, Sara (A 1927) and his son, Larry, Jr. Dr. Belo Stone died in 1993.
