Historical or Biographical Note
C. Gordon Peerman Jr. graduated from Tulane University and Vanderbilt School of Medicine (1949). He completed his residency training at Vanderbilt University Hospital in obstetrics and gynecology. Peerman then served on a Naval surgical team with the First Marine Division in the Korean War.
Peerman served as chief of obstetrics at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville and as clinical professor and interim chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Hospital. Following his retirement from practice, Peerman served as executive director of Medical Alumni Services and Professional Relations at Vanderbilt. He was also made an emeritus clinical professor.
