Historical or Biographical Note
Arthur L. Brooks was born in 1924 in Tennessee. A highly respected orthopaedic surgeon and teacher, Brooks graduated from Vanderbilt Medical School in 1952, completed his orthopaedic residency here in 1958, and worked as a member of the orthopaedic faculty at Vanderbilt from 1963 until 1984. The Arthur L. Brooks Center for Education and Research, completed in March 1985, was dedicated in his honor. It was created to enhance resident training and to facilitate clinical research in orthopaedics.
