Historical or Biographical Note
Ben V. Branscomb, M.D., attended Duke University School of Medicine from 1944-47 and interned at the University of Chicago Clinics from 1947-48. He conducted his residency at Vanderbilt University as Assistant Resident in Medicine from 1950-52 and as Chief Medical Resident from 1952-53. Dr.Branscomb was Distinguished Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham for much of his career. His father was Harvie Branscomb,esteemed Chancellor Emeritus of Vanderbilt University.
