Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. William H. Boyce graduated from Vanderbilt School of Medicine in 1944. He joined the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University as an instructor in 1952 and served as chairman of the department of urology from 1960 to 1983.
Dr. Boyce received the 1989 Vanderbilt Distinguished Alumnus Award, chosen for his lifelong devotion to medicine and world-renowned contributions to urology. The doctor pioneered kidney stone treatments and credited as the first person to perform ultrasound on the prostate.
