Biographical / Historical
Peter Farnum Wright is a native of New Haven, Connecticut and went to Dartmouth College to get his A.B. Biology degree in 1964 followed by B.M.S. degree from Medical School in 1965. He later completed his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1967.
He came to Vanderbilt in 1975 as an assistant professor of pediatrics and went on to become Professor of Pathology in 1998, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology in 1997 and Professor of Pediatrics in 1985. He also served as Director of the Clinical Diagonistic Virology Laboratory beginning in 1978 as well as Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics beginning in 1975.
After a long and distinguised tenure at Vanderbilt Dr. Wright left Vanderbilt in 2008 to return to his alma mater Dartmouth College as Professor of Pediatrics at the Geisel School of Medicine.
