Biographical / Historical
Hollis Eugene Johnson was born on April 11, 1893 in Weakley County Tennessee. Son of Hollis Eugene and Martha Reuben (Roach) Johnson and went to Union University, Jackson, Tennessee, 1916. He got his Doctor of Medicine degree from Vanderbilt University, 1921.
He served as an intern in Davidson County Tuberculosis Hospital, 1921-1922 and as resident physician in Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville, 1922-1923. He later started serving various role at Vanderbilt like starting as an Assistant anatomy, assistant medical, assistant clinical medicine from 1917-1955 and professor clin.medicine, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, 1955-1958; professor emeritus, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, 1958-1992.
