Biographical / Historical
J. Raymond Fletcher was born in Texas and obtained his B.S. degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1960, M.D. degree from Washington University School of Medicine in 1964 and Ph.D. in Physiology from Georgetown University in 1977. He came to Vanderbilt as a full time professor of surgery at VUMC and as chief of surgery at Saint Thomas Hospital at the same time.
