Biographical / Historical
Sidney Fleischer was born in New York in 1930 to Jewish immigrant parents from Poland. He earned his Chemistry degree at the City College of New York in 1952. He completed his Ph.D. degree from Indiana University in 1958 along with his wife Becca. Fleischer was recruited by Vanderbilt University in 1964 as an assistant professor and was named professor in 1968. He continued his research until 2002 retirement.
Fleischer died at his Nashville home on May 27, 2016 at the age of 86.
