Historical or Biographical Note
Nina E. Wooton served as the first director/superintendent of nurses at the Vanderbilt Hospital Training School for Nurses serving in that role from 1911 to 1913. Born September 30, 1887, she graduated from the Nashville General Hospital Training School in 1909, and earned a degree in education from Peabody College. Following her time at Vanderbilt, she continued her professional career in nursing, receiving several honors and recognitions. She died in 1977.
