Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Allen Edward Van Ness graduated from Vanderbilt University Medical School in 1916 and was recipient the Founders Medal for that year. He served with the American Expeditionary Force during World War I before returning to Nashville to practice medicine. Dr. VanNess died of a heart attack while calling on a patient in Nashville on June 23, 1958.
