Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. Edsel A. Ruddiman received his medical degree from Vanderbilt in 1893 and subsequently taught in the School of Pharmacy, becoming a professor in 1915 and dean of the school in 1919.
Ruddiman left Nashville around 1920 and became chief chemist for John T. Milliken Co. He later returned to his native Detroit to serve as a chemist for Milburn & Williamson and later as a research chemist for his childhood friend, Henry Ford, in 1926.
