Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. George K. Carpenter Sr., a native of Nashville and a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine ('19), was an associate professor of clinical orthopaedic surgery at Meharry Medical College during the 1950s and 1960s. During World War II, he was chief of orthopaedic surgery at Halloran General Hospital in Staten Island, New York.
