Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. Blair E. Batson, M.D. '44 Vanderbilt University, served as chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine from its opening in 1955 until he retired. The University of Mississippi Medical Center's Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children is named for him. His brother, O. Randolph Batson, M.D., was dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs 1971-1973.
