Historical or Biographical Note
Mary Louise Donaldson,BSN, Ph.D., was Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She received her nursing education at Vanderbilt University, graduating in 1954. She went on to earn both her master's and doctorate degrees from Vanderbilt. Donaldson joined the VUSN faculty shortly after graduating and served until her retirement in 1992.
During her tenure, she made many contributions, including developing a media center and frequently enhancing the curriculum. She also served as the school's historian and published a book entitled A History of the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, which chronicled the School's first 75 years. Donaldson passed away in 2007.
