Abstract

Folder contains source material from the first White Coat Ceremony at Vanderbilt University Medical School in 1989. Materials include an article from August 25, 1989 issue of Medcom confirming that the first White Coat Ceremony took place that week. Additionally, a group of 19 pictures taken by John Howser and contained (in 35mm film negative format)in the News and Public Affairs archive taken at the ceremony.The digital files are scanned scanned images of those negatives and were scanned at 2400 dpi.Reading the article, it appears that the ceremony took place on either Tuesday the 22nd or Wednesday the 23rd of August, 1989. In addition to the students, and Dr. Chapman, Gerald Gotterer who was Associate Dean, and Dr. Virgil Lequire who was Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology also participated in the ceremony, and are pictured in the group of photos.
