Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. Marc H. Hollender (1916-1998) was a professor and psychiatrist. He was a national leader in psychiatry, noted for his study of sexual behavior and psychosomatic disorders. He received his M.D from the University of Illinois in 1941. He was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry for the State University of New York from 1956-1966. Then he was Professor of Psychiatry at University of Pennsylvania from 1966-1969. Then Dr. Hollender worked at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine as a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry from 1969-1983. He served as President for the American College of Psychoanalysts (1977-78) and for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (1980).
