Biographical / Historical

Dorothy Sanderson was born May 6, 1924 in Canton, OH the daughter of Harry and Lei Minnie Shifman. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1946 with a B.S. in Home Economics and completed an internship in Dietetics from Vanderbilt University in 1947. She held numerous positions throughout her professional career including at Cleveland City Hospital in Cleveland, OH, Vanderbilt University Hospital, Methodist/Baptist Hospital, Hospital Corporation of America, and Clover Bottom Hospital and School all in Nashville, TN. In addition to her career in dietetics, she was a devoted wife and mother, active in her faith and community, and had a life-long love for pets and animals. She passed away at the age of 92 on May 10, 2016 in Nashville, TN.

2.88 Cubic Feet (Two Paige boxes and one flat storage box (21" x 17" x 1.5").) : Collection consists of photographs, scrapbooks, framed materials, published items, typed, and handwritten materials.

Condition Description

Materials are in generally good condition. The scrapbooks are in relatively fragile condition given the acidic paper has yellowed and become brittle. The two oversized photogrpahs are also in fragile condition.
