Three letters from Dr. Hugh Jackson Morgan to Richard P. Daniel, and a copy of one from Daniel to Morgan--from April 1926, concerning the treatment and hospitalization of Mr. Daniel's wife, Mary Goff Palmer Daniel.The letters chiefly concern the hospitalization of Mrs. Daniel and Dr. Morgan's recommendations concerning her care. The Daniels lived in Jacksonville, Florida, but Mrs. Daniel was hospitalized at Vanderbilt.

Biographical / Historical

Richard P. Daniel (1881-1968) was an attorney and a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He atendeded the University of the South at Sewanee, received his law degree from Washington and Lee School of Law, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1902. His married his wife Mary Goff Palmer Daniel (1889-1951) in 1911. Mrs. Danel was a native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and was very active in Jacksonville social activities including the National Society for Colonial Dames, and the Daniel Memorial Home for Children.

Dr. Hugh Jackson Morgan (1893-1961) was a well regarded physician and served as Chair of the Department of Medicine at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1935 to 1959.
