Historical or Biographical Note

Cumberland Pediatric Foundation's mission and purpose is to promote the health care of children of the Cumberland Region by improving the quality, increasing the efficiency, and lowering the cost of the delivery of pediatric health care services in the region. The Foundation improves communication among the providers of health care for children. It develops "best practice" guidelines for providing and documenting the quality of pediatric care, provide professional pediatric education through the provision of teaching services to medical students and residents in private practice settings, and the sponsorship of contemporary practice seminars. Their mission is to continue to develop educational opportunities to meet regional needs as they arise, and provide liaison activities between members representing community child health care, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and other health care providers as needed. The Foundation through its Pediatric Research Network coordinates medical research, which will improve the quality of health care on both a local and national basis. By offering the opportunity to participate in important clinical trials and government based research. CPF helps attract and retain top quality pediatricians to our region.
