Historical or Biographical Note

Ann S. Minot (1894-1980) was a clinical chemist, teacher, and investigator. Her wide research interests included protein deficiency, Vitamin C deficiency, myasthenia gravis and tocopherol. She also established first blood bank at Vanderbilt.

She received her B.S. from Smith College in 1915 and her Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Harvard and Radcliffe in 1922. She came to the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1926 and held the following positions: Research Assistant for the Department of Pharmacology, 1926-1932; Assistant Professor, Pediatric Research, 1932-1946; Director of Clinical Chemistry Lab, 1946-1960.
