Executive Faculty Minutes, School of Medicine 1940-50, as excerpted by RDC; notable meetings included 8/16/1940 in which Chancellor Carmichael discussed the funding of the hospital, the resignation fo Tinsley Harrison 2/14/1941, the resignation of Alfred Blalock 4/10/1941, the admission of British students to the School of Medicine 1/15/1942, the establishment of accelerated program of instruction 3/12/1942, the death of Horton Casparis 12/10/1942 with the appointment Katie Dodd as the interim chair in pediatrics in January 1943, the appointment of Dr. Christie on 6/10/1943, the resignation of Dr. Youmans as announced on 6/1/1944, the retirment of Dean Leathers 9/20/1945 with the appoint of Dr. Goodpasture as dean, the creation of the department of anaesthesiology on 12/20/1945, the dropping of foreign language requirements on 6/22/1946, creation of Department of Psychiatry 2/20/1947, contract with the Veterans Administration 7/9/1948, the creation of a special committee of Christie, Burch, Henry Clark, Morgan, Pilcher, to consider what action should be taken regarding the School of Medicine, the appointment of Youmans as dean on 11/17/1949; The excerpts by RDC were followed by copies of special meetings by the faculty; specifically the minutes on 6/1/1944 granting leave of absence to Professor Hugh Morgan to serve actively in the army, a critical situation resulting from the resignation of Dr. Youmans as Professor of Medicine; the memorial to Dean Leathers was recorded in 9/20/1945; the meeting of 10/29/1947 was a special called meeting to consider a proposal by Dr. Branscomb to provide indigent care in Nashville; the meeting on 3/30 announced the resignation of Dr. Goodpasture as Dean and Sam Clark as Associate Dean
