Scope and Contents
This main part of this collection includes an oral history with Lamar Alexander conducted by Adrian Shanker on March 7, 2025 in Walland, Tennessee. Adrian Shanker interviewed Alexander as part of his project "Al Shanker Centennial Oral History Project."
Along with the video and audio of the interview, the collection includes the oral history agreement, pictures of Lamar Alexander, and a transcription of the interview.

Biographical / Historical
Adrian Shanker is the grandson of Albert Shanker (1928-1997). Albert Shanker served as the President of the American Federation of Teachers and promoted educational legislation and unionization. He worked with Governor Lamar Alexander on educational reforms including raising teacher pay in the 1980s. Lamar Alexander is an American politician who served as a United States senator and state governor of Tennessee.
