Biographical / Historical
Frances Newman Thomson was born on December 4, 1923, and died on December 26, 2007, in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Martin College and Boston University. A life-long collector of Southern Literature, she served as a president of the Southern Writers Book Group and the Athena Book Group. She donated her collection of Southern Literature to the Vanderbilt Special Collections Library.
