Philip Slates Collection
Scope and Contents
The Philip Slates Collection (3.36 linear feet) consists of autographs, music scores, sketches, essays, writings, letters, notes, drawings, newspaper clippings, event programs, photographs, and various administrative documents. The materials reflect the teaching and composition work of Slates (1924-1966) during his time as a faculty member at George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee.

The physical materials from this collection may be viewed only in the reading room of Vanderbilt’s Special Collections and University Archives.
