Biographical / Historical

The Cumberland Poetry Review was a bi-annual magazine published by Poetics, Inc., that was devoted to poetry and poetry criticism from new and established writers. The idea for the magazine originated in 1979 from a group of poets in Nashville, Tennessee. After two years of planning and financial support from the Lyndhurst Foundation, the first issue appeared in the Fall of 1981. The magazine won the Pushcart Prize in 1986 and consistently published works from local, national, and international writers. The Cumberland Poetry Review was a vibrant and active part of the Nashville and Middle Tennessee literary community for over twenty years. The last issue was released in 2004.
