Identifier: MSS.0305

Scope and Contents

Series II contains photographs mainly of authors who were written about during his tenure as a literary critic for the Nashville Tennessean newspaper, and the Nashville Tennessean Magazine. Ralph Morrissey took some of the photographs while others were acquired through the book publishers. The majority of photographs are identified, but not dated with the actual date taken. Date references are the publication dates of a specific book (some press releases are attached). Dates are approximated from 1930-1956.

The collection is arranged alphabetically, then by unidentified photographs, then by subject. The 875 black and white photographs, of various sizes, have been placed in protective sleeves, encased in 830 acid-free file folders, and placed in eight (8) Hollinger boxes, 3.36 linear feet.

Additional photographs from Ralph Morrissey may be located at the Tennessee State Library and Archives.
