In the above left, the bearded man represents God the Father, holding an orb in his left hand, with two angels behind him. He holds up his right hand in a gesture of blessing and beams descend diagonally down to Mary; within them is a rendering of a miniscule baby being sent down through the beams to Mary. She kneels before an altar with an open book, wearing an ornate gown with floral decorations that gathers in folds on the floor. Between her and the Archangel Gabriel on the left, there is a vase of lilies, the symbol of her purity and Immaculate Conception. Gabriel has wings and wears a clerical garment with saints depicted on the fringes. His hair is long, his face youthful and unbearded, and he holds up his right and hand and points the left at Mary.
