It signifies her relation to the Vivaldi's a prominent Genoese family. Below the shield is a woodcut image of Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia. Due to the inclusion of this woodcut, the patron's name could have also been Elizabeth. This painting may have been the right panel to a private triptych.
