The Veneration of the Eucharist, In this painting, a woman, possibly the personification of the Catholic Church, is seated on a lion. She holds in her hands the monstrance with the sacred host inside. The Holy Spirit flies overhead in the form of a dove. Below her is the Christ child who holds the sacred heart and a wooden cross. Surrounding the woman and the Christ child are various saints, including Saints Peter, Paul, Catherine, Rosalie, Sebastian, Augustine, Jerome, Gregory and Ambrose. Each saint is depicted with his or her attribute. A skull lies on the ground in front of the Christ child, representing Christ's triumph over death.
