The Magdalene, Painting depicts the Renaissance archetype of the Penitent Mary. This apocryphal story that follows Mary Magdalene after the death of Jesus. It was said that she then retired with all of her possessions, goods, and only the clothes on her back to live a life of exile and repentance. Here, she appears among shining curtains, rich fabrics, jewels, etc, though her clothes have disintegrated with time and her hair is past her waist. She kneels and looks to the sky, hands lifted in prayer to show her state of repentance. There is also a small dog in the bottom left of the painting.
