Coronation of the Virgin, This image shows the coronation of the Virgin, surrounded by saints and angels. Mary and Jesus sit enthroned on an ornate, multi-tiered, double, Gothic throne. To the left are prophets and martyrs and to the right are patriarchs and apostles, Below are saints and holy virgins. In the base of the throne are the four evangelists and seven angels with musical instruments. On either side of Mary and Jesus are cherubs and seraphs. The scene is ceremonial (from rigidity of layout) and exuberant. The flower meadow in the front refers to the Garden of Eden as the scene.
