The Dead Christ Between the Virgin and Mary Magdalene, The painting shows Christ after his death on the cross held by his mother Mary and follower Mary Magdalene. Though he has just endured the Passion, he is rendered white, palid, and almost untouched by wounds and blood--save for his brow and the right side of his chest. Mary the Mother of Christ wears a red garment, white veil, and purple cloak over top. Mary Magdalene attempts to clutch at Christ's right outer thigh, and holds her chest with her left hand. Behind the figures is a nondescript landscape with trees and mountains in the far distance, but no markers of the narrative scene or events.
