Road to Emmaus, Scene is one of 26 images that detail the life of Christ that decorate the back of the Maesta altarpiece. This detail depicts the New Testament scene in which Christ meets two of his disciples on the road to Emmaus. Unaware of his identity and resurrection the two disciples lament the crucifixion of Christ with the unrecognized Christ.
