The Bruce R. Payne Papers are comprised of nine boxes (3.78 linear feet) of correspondence and subject files. The papers are broken into three series.

Series I: is the largest series (six boxes) and contains correspondence both outgoing and incoming with the outgoing organized by date and the incoming by name of sender. Another small sub-set is called Secondary and are carbons of letters sent to him for informational purposes.

Series II: Office of the President is comprised of subject files about topics of concern for Payne as President of Peabody College. These are arranged alphabetically in three boxes.

Series III: Personal Records contains one folder about Bruce R. Payne’s finances.

The physical materials from this collection may be viewed only in the reading room of Vanderbilt’s Special Collections and University Archives.
