Scope and Contents
The Black Cowboys Materials series (133 items, 0.833 linear feet) consists of materials related to the creation of Dom Flemons’ album Black Cowboys. The series is organized into 12 folders. The folders contain essay drafts, lyric drafts, liner note drafts, CD cover drafts and proofs, research materials, article reviews about the album, email correspondence about the album, dating from 1925 to 2020 and materials related to Dom’s American Songster Radio show about Black cowboys dating from 2018. These materials show many different stages of the process of creating his album.

The physical materials from this collection may be viewed only in the reading room of Vanderbilt’s Special Collections and University Archives.
