Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.FLEM.0685; Other stamp identifier: CV Stamp; Public Notes: The first version of this depicted Charles II wearing a skirt (as young boys did at this date) like that of James. It was rumored that the King wasn't happy with this so this painting was constructed promptly after the first was completed. Several copies exist.
