Burial of Saint Lucia, Image depicts the burial of Saint Lucia, the patron saint of Syracuse. After donating all of her possessions to the poor, she was denounced as a Christian, when she refused to give up her chastity, she was sentenced to be dragged to a brothel. According to the legend, the Lord intervened and she could not be removed from the place where she stood. Unable to inflict the punishment she was prescribed they decided instead to cut her throat. The place her body landed became the church of Santa Lucia al Sepolcro in Syracuse., circa 1608-1609
