The Calling of Saint Matthew, Image depicts a contemporary rendering of the New Testament scene of Jesus calling on Saint Matthew, also known as Levi the tax collector, to follow him. A group of men, in varying ages sit around a table counting the tax money for the day. Two men stand before them, Jesus is depicted with a halo, pointing to the table. The other man, St. Peter has his back facing the painter, in robes with a walking stick. While two of the men at the table do not notice the arrival of Christ, St. Matthew and the young boy do. In response to Jesus' action, St. Matthew points to himself to question the summons., circa 1599-1600
