Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.VENI.0313; Original stamp identifier: K-423; Other stamp identifier: Kress Collection; Public Notes: Savage (2013) and Shapley (1968) note that Bartolomeo may have had workshop (bottega) assistance with thsi earlier piece. They also both note that is very closely resembles the Osimo altarpiece by the Vivarinis. Shapley (1968) writes that this composition was a common one for the Coronation theme by the Vivarini brothers, and that is seems the Virgin's robe was reworked/repainted. Shapley (1968) also notes that this panel was probably the center panel of an altarpiece, and suggests the side panels may have been St. James and St. Francis of Philadelphia Museum's Johnson Collection, and Ecce Homo from the Museum at Capua.
