The Rape of the Sabines, Sculpture depicts the semi-historical event frequently called the Rape of the Sabines, in which the first generations of Romans lured the surrounding tribes to a festival dedicated to Neptune. After the festivities, the Romans then stole the woman from the Sabine tribe. The abductions prompted a series of battles between the two. Here, the scene is encapsulated in three figures, two men and a fleeing woman, all three are naked and depict an amazing level of craftsmanship and classical ideas of anatomy., 1581-83
