Lamentation of Christ, Marble relief follows the Passion narrative story line and occurs immediately following the deposition of the dead Christ. In this relief, the Virgin Mary standd on his left with her head covered, her hands clutching her son and her expression is one of desolation. On the right, a young man appears, likely John the Apostle, who holds the majority of Christ's weight. He stands slightly behind in the trio and most of his body is obstructed from view.
