Scope and Contents
Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.DUTC.0677; Public Notes: From the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum: The Concert was stolen along with twelve other works from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990.
The Gardner heist is the biggest art theft in history, with more than $500 million of artwork taken from the Museum.
The Concert is one of only 36 known paintings by Vermeer. It is considered one of the most valuable stolen objects in the world.
The investigation is active and on-going and the Gardner works in partnership with the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office.
There is a $5 million dollar reward for information leading to the recovery of these stolen works.
