Biographical / Historical

The donor did not remember the origin of the "Save the Males" button, but research shows it may have related to the 1993 lawsuit from Shannon Faulkner to become the first woman member of The Citadel Corps of Cadets, a military college in Charleston, South Carolina. It is possible the "Save the Males" campaign made its way into the gay male community during this time.
