Scope and Contents
The Albert Schweitzer Collection (6.25 linear feet) consists of magazines, pamphlets, newsletters, letters, correspondences, calendars, postcards, cards, stamps, medallions, posters, vinyl records, printed music, sculptures, a paperweight, a decorative dish, bookmarks, a drawing—all of which reflect Schweitzer’s life as Alsatian-born theologian, organist and Bach-enthusiast, missionary-doctor at Lambaréné, Gabon, and a Nobel Peace Prize humanitarian. Many of the materials came from Tennessee Players, Inc. production of the show “The Words of Albert Schweitzer and the Music of Bach,” which played in various sites across the United States including the National Cathedral, Washington D.C.
