Biographical / Historical

(1918-1985) contralto. Brice studied at Juilliard. She performed with symphony orchestras around the United States and also in opera and musical theater. Brice was married to baritone, Thomas Carey. Later in her career, she made recordings, including the Houston Opera's recording of Porgy and Bess, which won a Grammy in 1978. (Source: de Lerma 2013, Oxford Music Online)
