Scope and Contents These tapes include speeches made by Martin Luther King, Jr., James Lawson, and James Farmer at the 1961 Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which was hosted by the Nashville Christian Leadership Council in Nashville, TN, September 27-29, 1961. King describes Lawson's contributions to non-violence, Lawson shares his thoughts on the necessity of social revolution, and Farmer discusses the Freedom Rides.
