The Lamentation of Christ, This painting depicts the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalen, and Saint John all mourning the death of Christ. Christ lies bleeding in Mary's arms as St. John consoles the crying Mary. Mary Magdalen sits at the base of the cross with her hands clasped in prayer as she looks up toward the sky. There is a city hidden in a hilly landscape and in the background., c.1460
